It is well known that St Louis, Missouri is one of the greatest cities in the country for anyone looking for free things to do. When we say free things to do, we are not talking about small attractions like many other places. St Louis offers many major attractions that are free.
St Louis Zoo
The St Louis Zoo is considered a world-class Zoo. That is why the residents are so proud of it and visitors enjoy it so much. This Zoo houses over 5,000 different animals. You can watch the Penquins or watch baby elephants. The Zoo is so large that you could visit multiple times and have a different experience each time. Best of all, it is free! The Zoo is easy to find at 1 Government Drive. This is north of Highway 40 near Forest Park. You can visit it between 9am and 5pm daily.
St Louis Science Center
This is a wonderful experience for the whole family. Everyone will enjoy the many hands on attractions. You can see how much you know about dinosaurs and fossils, experience space in their planetarium, or use a gun to find out how fast passing cars are going. You can visit the Science Center between Monday and Saturday from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Sundays they are open from 11am to 4:30pm. You can find the Science Center at 5050 Oakland Avenue.
St Louis Art Museum
Art is a great way to add culture to your life. This museum is a great all day visit. Their collection contains over thirty-thousand drawings, sculptures, and paintings. They also have one of the premier collections of German paintings from the 20th century. A museum might not seem like a kid friendly destination. But, on Sundays they offer tours that are meant specifically for your little ones. You also can enjoy free live musicians on Fridays. You can visit the St Louis Art Museum between 10am and 5pm Friday to Monday. Between Tuesday and Thursday they are open until 8pm.
St Louis City Garden
This is one of the newer free, family friendly attractions in St Louis. It is located in St Louis’s downtown area. It is filled with wading pools, fountains, sculptures, and much, much more. It is a wonderful place to take the little ones to play on a warm day, just watch people, or take a walk. You can find it between 10th and 8th streets along Market street. You can visit as soon as the sun comes up until 10pm every day.
